EAFC is a program to support the income of families in need.
The Family Investment Administration of the Maryland Department of Human Resources is the central coordinating and directing agency of all public assistance programs in the State, one of which is the Family Investment Program (FIP). This program is administered locally by county social services departments with the ultimate goal of providing employment and training activities, supportive services, and benefits that enable recipients to get jobs and improve their economic circumstances.

Welfare Avoidance Grants (WAG) are short-term, one-time cash payments intended to prevent families from needing to register for welfare.
