Where To File Your Documents and Filing FeesAll family law cases are filed in a circuit court except for a Petition For Protection From Domestic Violence which can be filed in a circuit court or the District Court. There are Circuit Courts and District Courts in all counties of the state.Fees vary depending on the action, but in most cases the cost of a divorce action will be at least $90.00 plus a Master's fee of approximately $110.00. The Master's Fee is often paid in advance at the same time that you file your complaint. Ask the clerk in your court to tell you the amount of all fees and when the fees will need to be paid. To ask the court to delay or excuse the fees if you have little or no money or income, file Form DR. 32 at the beginning of your case. There is also a complete list of the Domestic Relations Forms available in PDF format from the Maryland judiciary website. To view and print the forms, you may be required to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. |
