Homeless Minors

  • If you are a teenager and are thinking about running away from home, or if you are already living on the streets, call the National Runaway Switchboard. The Switchboard is a 24 hour, toll free, confidential hotline. The Switchboard staff will listen to you and help you think about what you need and want to do next. They also can tell you about people in your community who can help you. Dial 1-800-621-4000 or visit the Switchboard's website.

  • Your legal rights to go to school 

  • Need to talk to someone anytime of the day or night? Call the nine line hotline at 1-800-999-9999 or visit the Covenant House website. Covenant House is a privately funded childcare agency. Although Covenant House has a religious background, it does not discriminate against persons of different faiths.

  • Kids living on the streets of Baltimore - can find help from volunteers with the Stand Up For Kids volunteer program.

  • Where to find a safe place. The Fellowship of Lights offers two shelters in Baltimore City, (One for young men, and one for young women),  that specialize in providing shelter to minors between the ages of 12 - 17. The Fellowship's Harris House shelter for young men, is located at 1300 N. Calvert street. You can call them at 410-385-1200. The Fellowship's Peggy's Place shelter for young women is located at 117 S. Broadway. You can call them at 410-522-9605.
