Instructions for Using the Code of Federal Regulations

When you click on a link to a Federal Regulation, it will take you to an index page.  The page will look something like this

To view a specific section, click on the TEXT to the immediate left of the section number.  That section number will then appear.  If you would like to then view another section, click on the “Back” button at the top of your browser window.  It will take you back to the index screen (like the example above).

Clicking on the PDF will cause the computer put up a box asking whether you would like to download the section or open it where it is.  This is only a better option if you would like to keep a copy of the Regulation on your computer or on a disk.  It takes longer for the Regulation to come up if you use the PDF version.  In order to do either, you must download Adobe Acrobat Reader software.
