Medical Assistance (MA)

MA Manual

Designed to aid local technicians make decisions about eligibility.  Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) publishes the MA manual and updates.  Manual updates are printed as needed – at least once annually to reflect changes in income levels for eligibility requirements.

One-time charge of $100 for lifetime subscription to manuals, updates. Qualifying non-profits may be able to receive the manual and updates at no charge. Howard Hettleman of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene provides subscription information (410-767-1466, 800-685-5861 ext. 1466)

Sent to providers advising them of updates in MA programs.

Clarifications

Sent by DHMH to local DSS offices and other interested parties

Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene Division of Eligibility Services publishes MA Clarifications and policy alerts. Individuals seeking copies of clarifications or alerts may call and ask for them by topic or by clarification number, if known. All are also available at local DSS offices. You can contact DHMH directly to request specific copies, either by topic or by number, if known. To ask for copies, call (410) 767-1463.

Directives are also held by the FIA and may be obtained through them. Copies cost 25˘ per page.
