HELP FROM THE COURT Recognizing the importance and complexity of family law cases, a recent change in the Maryland court system set up special Family Divisions within some Circuit Courts. These divisions are assigned most of the family law cases (child custody, child support, divorce, alimony, domestic violence, family-legal medical issues, etc.). The Family Division offer a special focus on family issues and a variety of support service including a Family Court Coordinator. Family Divisions have been established in Baltimore City as well as the counties of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Montgomery and Prince George’s. The counties without a Family Division (counties with fewer than 8 Judges) will still have a family support coordinator with the same responsibilities as the larger counties and should have some family support services. | |
