What the Landlord Tenant Section of the website covers…

This section summarizes the law governing rental units in Maryland including federal, state, and local laws. It is intended as a resource for both tenants and landlords.

In Maryland, each political subdivision (the counties and the City of Baltimore) must have either its own housing or livability code or use the state "Minimum Livability Code". Some of the codes apply to all dwellings and others apply only to rental dwellings. Special rules for the City of Baltimore, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Prince Georges County, and Montgomery County are covered here.

This section also covers the added rules and legal protections for subsidized and public housing units.

and what it does not

It does not cover most local codes. However, most counties and incorporated municipalities have very little additional landlord-tenant legislation. To find out the specifics of landlord-tenant law in your city or county, check with your city or county council.

Commercial leases are not covered in this section.
