for summary ejectment against a tenant under lease who has died without a will
and without next of kin. (effective

families with children, the Department may give emergency financial
assistance in cases of eviction.

District Court for
Anne Arundel County also: For modest fees for filing and service of
process, any person 18 years of age or older may file a Small
Claims suit for up to $2,500. The form
provided by the court is easy to fill out. Be sure to bring to
court the records of the transaction involved, such as receipts, leases,
letters, etc.
For a slightly higher filing fee, a
complaint may be filed for up to $20,000 in District Court.
Consumer Protection Division (State of
Maryland, Office of the Attorney General) The Division enforces the Maryland Consumer
Protection Law and answers questions concerning security deposits, rent
escrow and evictions. Its methods are primarily mediation and
arbitration.

Poisoning Provides information about the state lead
laws relating to childhood lead poisoning, rental property registration,
tenant notices, qualified offers, accredited contractors, inspections, etc.
