Non-Financial Eligibility Conditions Covers Maryland Residents with a nutritional need who are:
  • Pregnant women
  • New mother
  • Infants or children under 5 years of age
  • Live in Maryland 
  • Income Eligibility Conditions Annual or Monthly gross income (before taxes and deductions) below 185% of Federal Poverty Guidelines for household size (2008 figures below):

    OR income eligible, if household is receiving Food Stamps, Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA), Medical Assistance or MCHP (Maryland Children's Health Program).

    Apply At To set up an appointment to apply for WIC, call the WIC office in your county.

    Appeals

    You can appeal any denial of WIC benefits , request to repay WIC benefits already received, or disqualification from the program.   Appeals can be made orally or in writing to any agency staff member.  It is best to file a written appeal and get a receipt showing that you filed an appeal. See COMAR 10.01.06 (scroll down the list to that number and click it to see the full list of these regulations).

    Appeals must be filed within 60 days of the notice or the action was taken.
