After You Work,  Do Your Part To Get Paid

Protect Yourself on the Job

  • Request your employer's business card or write the full name, address, phone numbers of your employer and co-workers;

  • Keep your own record of the exact days and hours you work at each job;

  • Write the address of each location where you work;

  • Maintain all pay stubs and keep a copy of each check that you receive from your employer;

  • If you receive a check without funds, do not give the check back to your employer until you receive another check or cash; and

  • Remember, your employer cannot refuse to pay your earned wages because you do not have employment authorization.
