The court clerk's offices of the Eastern Shore are
experts on local court processes. Court Clerks are not attorneys, so they cannot offer you
legal advice or representation. However, here is what they
can do for you:
- Give you copies of existing self-help court forms;
- Accept forms and other documents for filing and
include these as part of the official court records;
- Answer your questions about court procedures (they
cannot offer
legal advice
on your individual case);
-
Explain your options if you are trying to collect on a
judgment after you won your District Court case;
- Tell you about the appropriate filing fees, the
time and date of your hearing or the status of your
case.
This Guide is part of a special project sponsored by the Eastern Shore Regional Library as a public service to Marylanders living on the Eastern Shore. Find out more about this special project, created in partnership with the Maryland Legal Assistance Network and the District Court located in Dorchester County.
