The Lawyer in the Library project provides FREE civil legal services in your community! No appointments necessary. Attendees will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring all relevant documents with you. Se Habla Espanol.
One-on-One Civil Legal Advice
Maryland Legal Aid attorneys and paralegals, law students, and volunteer attorneys will provide brief, one-on-one advice on a variety of civil legal issues including:
- Bankruptcy
- A legal procedure for dealing with debt problems of individuals and businesses.
- Child Custody & Support
- Debt Collection
- To collect a debt or obtain payment; To recover goods sold on credit or in installments when the buyer fails to pay for them.
- Expungements
- Removing convictions from criminal records.
- Foreclosure
- Government Benefits
- Housing
- Landlord/Tenant
- Veterans’ Benefits
- There are federal and state statutes, that provide benefits, privileges and preferences for the welfare of veterans and their dependents.
