Assists persons seeking the services of a private attorney. Referral staff screens calls to determine if a legal problem exists; refers persons to lawyers; arranges an initial half-hour consultation with a lawyer for a fee of $35. May waive fee for certain case types. Refers to other services if there are no legal questions. If the person decides to hire an attorney, subsequent fees are set by the attorney. People may be eligible for reduced fees. Volunteer attorneys provide brief advise over the phone, as appropriate.
