Advocates for the interests of persons with disabilities in Maryland. Center staff includes attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. Legal services include advice, counseling, negotiation, administrative remedies, and litigation. No fees for services. Legal assistance is provided for many problems of the disabled, including special education, vocational rehabilitation, social security benefits, protective services, guardianship and alternatives, nursing home advocacy, Children in Need of Assistance (CINA), and civil rights (including the right to appropriate treatment for institutionalized clients and those served in community-based programs).
