Various organizations provide assistance for individuals seeking expungement of their criminal record.

  • Homeless Person’s Representation Project, Inc. – 410-685-6589

HPRP does not take appointments for expungement intake at their office. All intakes are conducted at community centers. Call for more information. Services are limited to individuals who meet income eligibility requirements.

  • Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service – 1-800-510-0050

MVLS does phone intakes. They conduct phone intakes Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Services are limited to individuals who meet certain income eligibility requirements.

  • Neighborhood Defenders – 410-367-1631

Services are limited to individuals who have used the public defender’s office for their charges. Call for more information.

  • Civil Justice, Inc. – 410-706-0174

Civil Justice is a referral service for low/mid-bono legal help. Although services are not free, this is a good option for low to moderate income individuals who may not qualify for HPRP or MVLS.
